Why is unauthorized or copied Uptime® Elements Body of Knowledge material prohibited?

The Uptime® Elements Body of Knowledge is copyrighted intellectual property of Reliability Leadership Institute®. The only authorized source for it is the Reliability Marketplace. Any copy, scan, summary, "study guide," or question bank obtained anywhere else is unauthorized material, no matter who shared it or how closely it appears to match the original.

Three things follow from that.

It is illegal. Reproducing or distributing copyrighted material without a license is copyright infringement. Possessing and using it puts you, and anyone who passed it to you, at legal risk.

It undermines the credential you are working toward. The Certified Reliability Leader® designation carries weight because the people who hold it earned it through the authorized body of knowledge under a common standard. Unauthorized material compromises that integrity for every CRL, including you.

It does not work. Copied and third-party materials are not maintained by the framework's creator. They drift from the current Body of Knowledge, omit revisions, and frequently misstate concepts. Nothing in them is guaranteed to align with the official exam. Candidates who prepare from unauthorized sources are studying for a different exam than the one they will sit.

Prepare from the authorized Uptime® Elements Body of Knowledge, obtained through Reliability Marketplace. Nothing else is approved, and nothing else is necessary.
